Trout fishing in America

An angler presents his catch, opening day
Anglers, Wissahickon Creek, opening day 2010, troutAn angler presents his catch, fresh out of Wissahickon Creek in Wissahickon Valley Park, Philadelphia, on Saturday, April 3, opening day of the 2010 trout-fishing season in the area. To keep your catch, each fish had to be at least 7 inches, and there is a daily take-home limit of five fish. Most of the fishermen I spoke with said they practiced catch-and-release. About 3,000 trout were introduced into the creek a week earlier, and the high water caused by the previous week’s rain was credited with distributing the fish nicely. Dry years, anglers said, they tend to collect in deep pools.
