Drained by victory

A Philadelphia Phillies fan stands dazed after his team succeeded in defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in a rain-delayed game that started about 10 p.m. Saturday and ended at 2 a.m. Sunday. In the bottom of the 9th inning the home team broke a 4-4 tie in dramatic fashion to give the Phillies a win in the 3rd game and a 2-1 edge in the World Series.

  1. Sigh! Looking bad for the home team. I don’t want to concede yet… Cowbell in hand, we intend a valiant push toward victory…

  2. 2 groffoto

the interrupted Game 5 is a bummer all around! But for a Philly fan that rain-delayed Game 3 was magic. I must note that in the 2nd inning a cowbell rang about 20 rows behind me — just once. The whole section whirled and booed and the bell was not heard from again. a woman in front of me was rooting for TB, but she was discreet, maybe because her boyfriend was a Phillies fan.
