Cyrano banners, Philadelphia
Banners, flags, columns and awnings seem to march in step along the Avenue of the Arts on a sunny Sunday morning (Jan. 27, 2008). The banners on the avenue, aka Broad Street south of City Hall, herald the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s production of “Cyrano.” The East Coast premiere of the new opera, composed by David DiChiera and based on Edmond Rostand’s classic story “Cyrano de Bergerac,” is Feb. 8-15 at the Academy of Music. http://www.operaphilly.com.
