South Smedley, South Philly

South Smedley, South Philly
All is quiet but the atmosphere festive late on a Saturday night in the 2700 block of South Smedley Street, one of South Philadelphia’s premier blocks for holiday decor. Besides the house decorations, the oblong block’s grassy median is covered with a colorful array of light-trimmed displays (below). Carols waft across the scene from a speaker attached to a tree. This block of Smedley is located just south of Oregon Avenue between 16th and 17th streets. Photos shot about 11 p.m. Dec. 8, 2007.South Smedley median
