Georges Perrier’s latest outpost

“We’ll be open at 7 a.m. Wednesday,” Chef Georges Perrier said Monday afternoon 6/6/11 as he stood proudly at the counter of his new bakery and cafe in the Philadelphia suburb of Narberth. The café, called Art of Bread by Georges Perrier, is at 920 Montgomery Avenue. The shop has a small dining area for light fare, but carry-out service will be its bread and butter. Besides French café food such as quiche and sandwiches, Art of Bread will, of course, offer a variety of fresh breads. Pastries will be made by the pastry chef at Le Bec-Fin, Perrier’s well-known French restaurant in Center City. The cafe/bakery is located along a business stretch of Montgomery Avenue that has a PNC Bank branch next door. Across the street are a Staples store and Annie sez, a women’s fashion store. The new Perrier location previously housed a gourmet food and catering business called Fratelli Rago.
