A Union Pacific freight engine chugs past wind turbines on the edge of Palm Springs, Calif. The wind farm on the Gorgonio Mountain Pass in the San Bernardino Mountains holds more than 4,000 windmills that power Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley for Southern California Edison.
